Visit to Abbur
Abbur is on Bangalore-Mysore road after Chennapattana, mainly known for Shree Brahmanya Teerthara matha (muth, mutt) which comes under Shree Kundapura Vyasaraja matha. Brahmanya teertharu was gurugalu of Shree Vyasarajaru. Shree ShreePadarajaru was vidya gurugalu where as Shree Brahmanya Teertharu was one who had done pattabhisheka to Shree Chandrikacharyaru. Abbur is around 65 kms from Bangalore city. If we travel by own vehicle, we can reach within an hour without any stop, depending on traffic. It's better to start early to avoid traffic on Mysore road. We started from Bangalore around 8.30 am. Reached Abbur around 10. Its better to be present in Math by 10.30 or before, so that if we wish we can offer any Sevegalu.
After darshan and prasad in Abbur, we visited Purushottama Guhe (Cave), where Shree Purushottama Teertharu observed Tapasya, disappeared, and is believed to be still present in the cave. This place is around 2 kms from math, after reaching nearby, we need to follow a narrow path passing greenary in a field and climb around 50 steps made of stone. Then have to climb few rocks to enter into the cave. It may be difficult for elders to climb the rocks. At some distance into the cave, Shree Mukhyaprana devara statue has been installed to restrict people from getting inside. One can get a beautiful glimpse of Abbur from top of the hill.
Then we visited Shree Vyasa pratishthita Shrinivas temple in Chennapattana (Landmark: Kote), which also belongs to Shree Kundapura Vyasaraja Matha. The statue is very beautiful. There are also Vyasa pratishthita Shree Mukhyaprana and Moola vrindavana of Shree Lakshmi Prasanna Teertharu.
Next visit was to Shree Aprameya temple, which is around 10 minutes drive from the last destination. Aprameya is one of the names of Lord Vishnu and appears in Vishnu Sahasranama. In addition to the main diety, there is a rare statue of Ambegalu Krishna whose beauty can't be expressed in words! It is mentioned that Shree Purandara Dasaru composed 'Adisidalu Yashode Jagadodhdharana' song here.
Also in plan was visit to Kengal Reservoir, around 6 kms from Aprameya temple on the way back to Bangaloe. But we didn't cover it as we heard from localities that it had not rained much by this time of the year. Kengal Hanuman temple is also present here.
In Chennapattana one can also visit famous wooden toy, furniture shops.
All this we covered in a day. And after, started back to Bangalore, filled with pleasant experience of drive and temple visits.
Nice info, blog
